Keanu Reeves has had a laugh about online rumours he secretly wed longtime love Alexandra Grant.
At the premiere of his new movie, Good Fortune, the Hollywood heartthrob spoke about the messages of congratulations that followed the ultimately incorrect reports.
“Well, that wasn’t the first time,” the 61-year-old quipped to E! News.

Reeves admitted the couple, who have been together since 2018, have “been going out for a long time”, so understood why people believed the AI-generated image and other reports swirling online.
Grant ended up taking to social media to dispel the false story.
“It’s a nice thing, people did a lot of nice messages and stuff,” Reeves said.
“But Alexandra just did a wonderful [job] addressing [it], like ‘Thank you, but here’s some reality’.”

Grant shared a photo of the couple kissing on Instagram, alongside a lengthy caption setting the record straight.
“This is a real photo,” she wrote.
“Not an engagement photo or an AI wedding announcement… simply a kiss! (Albeit maybe the moment right before or after it… given the slightly goofy expressions on our faces!)
“I’m sharing it here to say thank you to everyone for the congratulations on our wedding. Except we didn’t get married.

“Good news is much needed these days, but it’s still fake news, so be careful out there! So, here’s a bit of real happiness!”
Reeves, who doesn’t have social media, previously denied the reports via a short statement from his publicist.
“It is not true, they are not married,” the statement said.
The couple, though not married, looked like newlyweds at the New York screening on Monday night (Tuesday AEDT), as they giggled and kissed for the cameras.

Reeves stars as an angel named Gabriel in the movie written and directed by comedian Aziz Ansari, who also stars in the film, alongside Seth Rogan.
Gabriel tries to help fix the lives of Ansari and Rogan’s characters but his angel powers don’t quite work out how he’d hoped and things go awry.
