‘I’m going away for a while’: Fans worry as singer ‘cancels everything’

Singer Lola Young’s update has fans worried after her collapse mid-performance just days go.

The 24-year-old was performing on stage at the All Things Go festival in New York City on September 27 when, as she was singing, she began swaying before falling backwards onto the stage floor.

The Messy singer took to Instagram after two days before sharing an update with her fans.

”I’m going away for a while. It pains me to say I have to cancel everything for the foreseeable future,” she wrote in a statement.

“Thank you for all the love and support. I’m so sorry to let anyone down who has bought a ticket to see me, it hurts me more than you know. Obviously you will be entitled to a full refund.

“I really hope you’ll give me a second chance once I’ve had some time to work on myself and come back stronger.”

Many fans shared messages of support for the singer.

“We love you. This is one of the bravest things to do and I am so pleased you’re putting yourself first in an industry that advises the opposite!” one shared.

“The excitement of seeing you live now gets extended and we will wait as long as it takes.”

“Take your time babe ❤️‍🩹 we’ll all be here when you’re back,” said another.

“You don’t need to work on yourself! This isn’t a personal failure. It’s just the body. And we are here for as long as it takes to heal,” wrote model Rain Dove, “Thanks for taking care of Yourself. We’ve lost too many people at too young an age because they didn’t care for themselves x”

The star has been open about her mental health diagnoses, including ADHD and schizoaffective disorder.

She opened up about her health journey in an interview with The Guardian, where she said that she has ”had to be away a bit” and that her recovery is “not linear, it’s up and down, but it’s down to dysregulation of dopamine.”

The vocalist was slated to play shows across the UK, Canada, North America and Europe over the next six months, including at renowned music festival Lollapalooza in South America.

More immediately, she was in the lineup to play the Washington DC leg of the All Things Go festival the day after her on-stage fall, pulling out of it last minute and apologising to fans on Instagram.

”I’m sorry to confirm that I won’t be playing All Things Go in DC today,” she wrote.

“I love this job and I never take my commitments and audience for granted so I’m sorry to those who will be disappointed by this.

“I hope you’ll all give me another chance in the future. Thank you to all those who listen and care. To all the people that love to be mean online, pls give me a day off,” she wrote, signing off with a heart emoji and her name.
