He’s lived through nearly a century of history, and now William Shatner is marking his 95th birthday by giving us the ultimate advice for a life well-lived.
Posting to social media over the weekend, Shatner joked that he’s “still smokin’ at 95”, before adding: “Never waste a good cigar, and don’t trust anyone who tells you to ‘act your age.'”
The message was accompanied by two photos – one of Shatner smiling by the beach, and another showing him holding a cigar.

The birthday post comes shortly after he spoke about undergoing shoulder surgery following a horse riding accident last year.
Appearing at an awards event in Burbank, Shatner said he was thrown from a horse while riding.
He explained he attempted to roll but landed on his shoulder.
“I’m not a young stuntman anymore,” he said at the time.

The procedure, which he described as a type of reverse shoulder operation, was scheduled for March 11.
He later revealed that the surgery was routine and dismissed suggestions his shoulder had been severely damaged, adding he expected to return to work quickly.
Shatner has also previously spoken about living with tinnitus, which he developed while filming an episode of Star Trek.

“My own journey with tinnitus started when I was filming a Star Trek episode called ‘Arena,’ and I was too close to the special effects’ explosion. And the result was that I was left with permanent tinnitus,” he said.
He said the condition left him with ongoing symptoms that have varied in severity over time.
Best known for his role as Captain James T. Kirk, Shatner’s career spans more than 70 years, with credits including T.J. Hooker, Boston Legal and, of course, Miss Congeniality.
