Fan sues Donny Osmond for $21,000 after sustaining ‘life‑altering injuries’ at his Las Vegas show

A concertgoer is suing Donny Osmond after allegedly being hit in the face with an inflatable ball at a show during the singer’s Las Vegas residency.

Joanne Julkowski is suing the venue, Harrah’s Las Vegas, Osmond and his production company, Donny Osmond Concerts, over allegations of negligence.

The lawsuit alleges the Illinois resident was hit in the face with an inflatable light-up ball, which she claims caused a “traumatic” retinal injury and retinal detachment in her right eye, which required surgical intervention and resulted in visual impairment.

It also claims Julkowski suffered from concussion-related head and neck injuries.

Julkowski is suing the singer for $US15,000 ($21,000) in damages to compensate for “severe emotional distress, including psychological trauma, fear, anxiety, PTSD, and loss of enjoyment of life,” according to People.

An additional lawsuit asks for lost wages and payment of her attorney’s fees.

“Julkowski went to the Donny Osmond show expecting a fun, family‑friendly experience and instead left with a serious, life‑altering injuries that continue to affect her daily life,” her lawyer Lindsay Roginski told the magazine.

“It is unacceptable for a venue and a performer to place entertainment value over the safety of their patrons and fans.

“The choice to launch large objects into a crowd of people with no regard for their safety must be addressed, and damages resulting from it must be remedied.”

Julkowski claims her injuries required “extensive medical care, services, and treatment for her injuries, and may, in the future, be required to obtain additional future medical care.”

Her lawsuit also alleges the concert venue, Harrah’s, ”breached its duties of care” by “permitting oversized lighted balls to be thrown, launched, and/or propelled into a crowded, dimly lit audience area.”
