Nicole Kidman has given her first insight into her mental state following her split from her husband of almost two decades, Keith Urban.
In a new article on Ariana Grande for Interview Magazine, which Kidman was given credit for, the Wicked and Wicked: For Good star asked Kidman how she was.
The Practical Magic 2 star’s small but telling response, “I’m hanging in there,” spoke volumes about how she was coping in the aftermath of her shock split from Urban, with whom she shares two daughters, Sunday and Faith.

Elsewhere in the interview, which was conducted via Zoom while Kidman was at home in Nashville and Grande was in New York, the Lioness actress admitted she was a fan of the Wicked franchise, even referencing her daughters when talking about the success of the first film.
“When I saw Wicked with my girls, we actually booked out the whole row here in Nashville and it was just crazy,” she said.
“People were cheering, and it was just really, really fun. So that was exciting, right? For that to take off.”
Kidman also spoke about her own turn playing a witch in the sequel to Practical Magic, which was filmed just before news broke of her and Urban’s split but after they separated.

The movie was filmed in London between July and September this year.
Being on a movie set far from home at such an emotional time could have been a disaster, and Kidman admitted she doesn’t always enjoy filming, but this was different.
“Sandy Bullock and I, and then Joey King and Maisie [Williams] – we had an incredible cast. A lot of times I don’t have fun when I’m filming… But I have such a strong relationship with all those women, so I felt protected and loved.
“It was just very, very safe.”
The pair also bonded over their love of relaxing in the bath at the end of a long day.
“That’s my sanctuary. I love talking on the phone [in the bath],” she said.

Reports first emerged in late September that the couple had split, but it was confirmed just a day later when Kidman filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences”.

A divorce petition lodged in the couple’s home town of Nashville included a marital dissolution agreement and parenting plan which named Kidman as the primary parent of their two daughters, aged 17 and 14 at the time of filing.
News of the couple’s split came as a huge shock to the public, but reports soon emerged they had been separated for months and it was Urban who called it quits and moved out of their marital home.
Kidman reportedly at first fought to save the marriage – her second following her 2001 divorce from superstar Tom Cruise.

Just days after she filed for divorce she made her first of two public appearances at an auction in Dallas Texas.
Then days later, Kidman shocked fans when she turned up at Paris Fashion Week with her two daughters.
She also sported “break-up bangs”, which her hairdresser later revealed were cut in her hotel room just before her fashion show appearance.
