Ruby Rose defends Taylor Swift, slamming ‘incredibly stupid’ criticism of new album

Ruby Rose has spoken out in defence of her once-close-friend Taylor Swift, slamming “incredibly stupid” criticism of the singer’s new album The Life of a Showgirl.

The Australian actor hit back at claims Swift is pushing MAGA-coded ideologies and a “tradwife” narrative with lyrics about marriage and wanting a family on the album.

The Orange is the New Black star wrote a series of posts on social media app Threads, calling the online chatter “not true”.

“As someone who has spent many nights discussing the world, social injustice, and life, with The Show Girl herself, I refuse to say her name in the same sentence as the hate group, Wackadoodles, are conspiring to attach her to,” Rose wrote.

“Given her public position against Trump, and his against her… if you are falling for the propaganda ‘trad wife’ X, Y, Z claims, you are most definitely walking into the biggest man-made rage bait black hole. Stop it.

“It’s not true, and it’s incredibly stupid.”

The term “tradwife”, which came from an online trend, refers to a “traditional wife” who ”embraces traditional gender roles and values” and is widely associated with families with conservative political views.

In her song Wi$h Li$t, Swift sings about her dreams to “have a couple kids”, saying fiancé Travis Kelce “got the whole block looking like you … got me drеaming ’bout a driveway with a basketball hoop.”

However, Swift’s career focus and self-made billionaire status is a far cry from the tradwife ideal.

Rose told fans the tradwife claims were “embarrassing and hurtful to see” and asked fans to “keep that energy and let’s take it where it’s necessary and needed”.

Rose also revealed another tidbit about Swift’s generosity in the threads.
