While her industry peers were partying away at the Emmy Awards, Sofia Vergara was forced to cancel at the very last minute.
The 53-year-old shared she was just about to get into the car to go to the ceremony before disaster struck.
“Didnt make it to the Emmys but made it to the ER 🤣😩sorry I had to cancel!” she shared on Instagram, alongside photos and videos from the hospital.

“Craziest eye allergy right before getting in the car!🤣🤣”
The actress shared a close up of her face, with half of it still sporting her glam that was meant for the awards ceremony and the other eye being completely inflamed.
Other videos showed her lying on the hospital bed in pain and splashing water directly into her eye.

“Oh no! Get well soon!” wrote Terry Crews in response to the star’s update.
“Get better soon,” a fan wished.


The Modern Family star missed all the action, with many memorable moments occuring during the ceremony.

The biggest highlight was the huge upset that occured as healthcare drama The Pitt won over Ben Stiller’s Severance for Best Drama Series, which was the favourite for the category.
With a total of 27 nominations for this year’s Emmys, Severance was pitted as a likely winner but that wasn’t to be the case.

The Pitt‘s executive producer John Wells accepted the golden statuette on behalf of the team and expressed his thanks to everyone involved, as well as a shoutout to healthcare workers.
“To all the healthcare workers, emergency workers, frontline workers. Respect them, help them trust them,” he said.

A number of reunions took place on stage, with fans of 2000’s TV delighted as the stars of Gilmore Girls and Everybody Loves Raymond came together.
Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham stood on a set designed like the famous front porch of the popular show as they addressed the show’s popularity among it’s loyal fanbase in their speech.
Graham joked that the show “apparently took the season of fall hostage”, inspiring laughter from the audience.

Actors Ray Romano and Brad Garret united on the stage, with Garret joking that “next time I’m on the Emmys it will be In Memorium.”
