“America is a s—show,” she told the Sunday Times in a recent interview.

Wright has been renting homes in the UK for a few years now for work, currently renting a home with her stepsister in the Chilterns, where they spend their weekends.

”I love being in this country. There’s a freedom of self here. People are so kind,” she said.

“They’re living. They’re not in the car in traffic, panicked on a phone call, eating a sandwich.

“That’s most of America. Everything’s rush, competition and speed.”

While the Princess Bride star didn’t directly comment on the political situation in the United States, several other stars have credited their decision to the election of Donald Trump’s second term.

Speaking with the BBC’s Richard Bacon a few months ago, Degeneres revealed she and wife Portia de Rossi had originally bought their Cotswalds home with the intention of it being a “part-time house”.

They arrived in the UK on the eve of the US election, with Degeneres saying the couple woke up the next day to “lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis”.

“I was like, ‘He got in’. And we’re like, ‘We’re staying here’,” she said.

Degeneres said she and de Rossi had been researching a recent move by the Southern Baptist convention to endorse the reversal of a supreme court case allowing same-sex marriage.

“They’re trying to literally stop it from happening in the future and possibly reverse it,” she told Bacon.

“If they do that, we’re going to get married here.”
