April 11: Australian model Lucy Markovic has died aged 27.
The former Australia’s Next Top Model contestant had suffered a brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM) and underwent an emergency brain surgery.
The news was announced on Markovic’s Instagram Stories, and in a post from her modelling agency EliteNYC.
“Dear friends and family, I regret to inform you that Lucy has passed,” the post on Markovic’s account, believed to have been posted by her partner, read.
“She was at peace. Me, her mother and my mother were present with her. We ask you to please give us space in these hard times.
“May Lucy rest in peace.”
EliteNYC remembered the young model as “a bright shining light” whose “smile and laughter could light up a room, and draw you closer to her.”
