Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber’s teen daughter Kai Schreiber has spoken out about being transgender and the importance of “community” in a candid new interview.
Kai, 16, did an an-depth Q&A and photoshoot with Interview Magazine and said her goals include becoming a “supermodel” and working in the fashion industry.
With that comes some role models for Kai, including the likes of Hunter Schafer and model Colin Jones, with the teen saying: “As a young trans girl, I’m always going to look up to the older generation of transgender people, especially in fashion.”

“It’s important to all of us to have a sense of community, especially when we’re under such hostile attack,” she said.
About her aspirations to hit the big time in the world of modelling, Kai added that her Aussie actress mum Naomi Watts used to film her practicing her runway walk at home.
“Struggling with gender identity from a young age most likely had something to do with it,” she said.

“I always wanted to grow up and be a beautiful, glamorous, influential woman, like Marilyn.”
Following the fashion photoshoot and interview, The Ring star Watts, 56, shared a public post with her millions of followers on Instagram and wrote: “@kaischreiberrr continuing to kill it! Proud of you! ❤️”
Kai made her runway debut walking for Valentino during Paris Fashion Week just a few months ago.
Watts and her actor ex Liev Schreiber, 57, are also parents to son Sasha Schreiber, 17, who recently celebrated his high school graduation surrounded by his family.

Watts, one of Australia’s most successful Hollywood exports, and Schreiber announced their shock split in 2016.

They were together for 11 years before going their separate ways.
Schreiber previously spoke about their close bond and how dedicated the pair are to co-parenting despite their split.
He said on CBS This Morning: “But, you know, we’re parents together so we’ll be together for the rest of our lives no matter what and we’re very close. Hopefully, that never changes and I don’t think it will.”
