Former Summer House star Hannah Berner recently appeared on the Purpose Podcast, where she shared candid insights into her experience of being let go from Bravo. Despite the challenges, Hannah revealed how the moment she was fired turned out to be a pivotal moment in her life, leading her toward self-love, personal growth, and eventually, a deeper understanding of what truly mattered.

When asked about how Bravo lets their employees know they’re being let go, Hannah didn’t hold back, recalling how it all went down during the pandemic. “It happens over Zoom. Well, it was during COVID. I think it was kind of like ‘you’re not coming back,’” she said, painting a picture of a moment that was as impersonal as it was emotional. The abrupt nature of the firing was hard to digest, especially when the conversation was wrapped up in such few words.
Hannah went on to explain that there were only two people on the call. “I think there were two people. And it’s also, you’re getting fired for, like, being you, so it was pretty hurtful,” she admitted.
And though she’s come to see it as a blessing in disguise, Hannah couldn’t deny that the pain was real in the moment. “You felt like you lost all the friends who the show was about. It basically was like, no one wants to be friends with you anymore,” she reflected.
However, as time went on, the silver lining began to appear. “Looking back, it was such a blessing,” Hannah shared. “People kept telling me that. They were like, ‘You’re so lucky. This is for a reason.’” Though well-intentioned, those words didn’t exactly bring comfort to Hannah in the moment. “Don’t you hate that when you’re going through it?” she laughed, recalling how tough it was to accept. “They were saying this is for a reason and I’m like, I need to make money. Like, I lost both my jobs. I was on a talk show too, and I was like, I have nothing.”

It wasn’t just about career struggles. She also found herself questioning her relationship. “I have a guy who I’m engaged to who, in my head, was like, ‘Why would you want to be with me when I’m a failure?’” Hannah said.
But instead of letting the turmoil define her, this moment became one of personal transformation. “When I used to win and do well, people loved me more, and this was a really pivotal moment where I had to love myself and believe in myself,” Hannah said, acknowledging how critical this point in her life was for building the strength she needed to move forward.
