Kameron Westcott Slams Katy Perry Over Legal Battle and Family Heartbreak: A Dying Wish Ignored

In a shocking revelation, Real Housewives of Dallas star Kameron Westcott has opened up about a heartbreaking legal battle with pop superstar Katy Perry and her husband, Orlando Bloom, over a property in Montecito, California. The $15 million estate, which once belonged to Kameron’s father-in-law, Carl Westcott, is at the center of a bitter dispute. What makes this situation even more devastating for the Westcott family is that Carl, a retired U.S. Army veteran suffering from Huntington’s disease, is nearing the end of his life—and his final wish has been overshadowed by a relentless fight over the mansion.

Carl Westcott’s intention was never to sell his beloved 9,285-square-foot home to Perry, says Kameron. His wish was clear: he wanted to spend his final days surrounded by family in the comfort of the estate he had cherished for years. Unfortunately, as Kameron Westcott explains to Daily Mail, “They are not backing down,” referring to Perry and Bloom’s insistence on pushing forward with the legal battle, even as Carl’s health deteriorates. “There’s never a negotiation. They want to go through with it, and you know, for us, we want to be done with this. We want to focus on my father-in-law’s health. We want to be with him and have the last few days peaceful. This is the last thing we want to deal with.”

For the past four years, the Westcotts have been embroiled in a nasty legal dispute with the famous couple over the property. In 2020, Carl, who was recovering from debilitating back surgery, agreed to sell the home to Perry for $15 million. However, just days later, Carl attempted to reverse the deal, claiming that his decision had been clouded by powerful medication. Despite the Westcotts’ legal team arguing that the contract was “voidable” due to Carl’s impaired mental state, a Los Angeles judge ruled in favor of Perry in December 2023, handing her the keys to the property in March 2024.

But the legal drama doesn’t stop there. Now, Perry and Bloom are demanding that the bedridden Carl pay $6 million for repairs they claim were needed on the property and back rent they allege could have been charged to potential tenants. “It’s heartbreaking that someone can be so greedy,” Kameron told DailyMail.com. “And it’s heartbreaking that someone has no heart. I mean, I hope this never happens to her parents.”

The Westcotts’ grief is compounded by the way Perry and Bloom initially courted Carl’s favor. After agreeing to purchase the home, the celebrity couple sent Carl a letter thanking him for the sale, promising that the property would provide them “the comfort of security, privacy, and safety.” The letter, which said the estate would be a “respite” where the couple could “grow together as a family,” now feels disingenuous to Kameron. “I knew it was just a way to get him to pass the house over to her,” she said. “I knew right away that [living in the home] was not their intent. It was just a way to try to get him to pass the house over to her.”

For Kameron and her family, the matter goes far beyond money. “He wanted to be at rest in the place that he loves,” Kameron said, referring to Carl, whom the family lovingly calls “Captain.” “He wanted to be at peace and have his family around, and we wanted to fill those wishes for him. That’s why we decided to fight for him and protect him.”

As Carl’s condition worsens, the Westcotts have moved him to a memory care facility in Dallas to ensure they can visit him as often as possible. Huntington’s disease has left him suffering from dementia, and many days he can barely sit up. Despite this, Kameron and her husband, Court, along with her brother-in-law, Chart, have been relentless in their pursuit of justice for Carl. “Every day is different. We just don’t know. … It’s extremely awful,” Kameron said, explaining the emotional toll it has taken on the family.

In the midst of all this heartache, Kameron is grateful for the support they’ve received from Real Housewives fans and others. “I do hope this is a good example for so many people out there to protect your parents,” she said. “Make sure you know what is always going on and protect them at all times because there are predators out there, and they can be taken advantage of.”

The legal battle may not be over, though. Perry will still need to provide evidence in an upcoming trial in August for her $6 million damages claim. It’s also possible that Bloom could be called to testify, as he is reportedly responsible for hiring the experts who inspected the property.

In an unexpected twist, even Prince Harry has been pulled into the drama. Chart Westcott sent a letter to the British royal, urging him to reconsider allowing Perry to perform at the Invictus Games, given her ongoing legal actions against the Westcotts. “The choice to feature Ms. Perry at the Invictus Games feels at odds with the event’s mission to honor veterans and their sacrifices,” Chart wrote. Despite the plea, Perry performed at the event in February 2024, as planned.

When asked what she would say to Perry and Bloom, Kameron was blunt. “I actually have nothing to say to them,” she said. “I just hope that this doesn’t happen to them one day. And I wouldn’t even wish it on them. That’s how horrible it is. And I hope that they can open their eyes and see that. I just wish they had more compassion within themselves.”

As the Westcotts fight for what they believe is right, the saga of the Montecito mansion serves as a heartbreaking reminder of the lengths some will go to—and the human cost of greed.
