When it comes to Jen Shah’s reduced prison sentence, Meredith Marks has a simple, yet direct response: “Good for her.”

This comment came from the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star during an interview at the Blue Jacket Fashion show on February 4. While Meredith Marks, 53, made it clear that the decision was beyond her control, her reaction to Shah’s sentence being shortened was a surprising one. “That’s not my call. That’s someone else’s call,” Marks said. “But, good for her.”
The ongoing saga of Jen Shah’s legal troubles, began in 2021 when she and her assistant were arrested for allegedly defrauding elderly victims in a telemarketing scam. After initially pleading not guilty, Shah eventually admitted guilt and has been serving her sentence, which has now been shortened twice. According to inmate records, Shah, 51, is now scheduled for release on November 3, 2026.
As for Jen Shah’s potential return to RHOSLC after her release, Meredith Marks was cautious. “That’s a call for production, and I don’t wanna comment,” she stated.

Recently, the RHOSLC cast was curious about Marks’ interaction with Shah while the latter was serving her sentence. During the season 5 reunion, Marks confirmed that Shah reached out to her via phone. “It was very brief,” Marks recalled. “She called me. Well, obviously, I can’t call her.” This sparked a debate among the cast, particularly Whitney Rose and Mary Cosby, about whether Marks should have engaged with Shah at all.
For Rose, 38, the comparison was drawn to her own experience with former RHOSLC star Monica Garcia, whose gossip account led to her departure from the show. Cosby, 52, took a stronger stance, suggesting she would never have answered Shah’s call, given the hurt she felt from the star’s past actions. “She tormented us,” Cosby asserted.
Meredith said that she did not reach out to Shah for any ulterior motives. “I didn’t seek Jen out to dig dirt on my friends,” she explained. “Jen called me from prison after she’s taken accountability, served time and is paying restitution.” This perspective led Marks to question the broader notion of forgiveness, pointing out that everyone deserves the opportunity to change.
“Is that what we’re all deciding? That there’s no second chances in life?” Marks asked. She continued, “She is serving her time and paying her restitution and has been accountable for it. What should she do? Curl up in a corner and die?”
Despite the tension that lingers between Shah and some of her former co-stars, Meredith believes in the potential for reconciliation. “Of course. There’s always a path forward,” Marks stated when asked about the future of her friendship with Shah. It’s clear that Meredith sees room for growth, even in the midst of all the drama and hurt.
While some of her RHOSLC castmates may never see eye-to-eye with Jen Shah, Meredith Marks is holding onto the belief that healing, accountability, and second chances can lead to a brighter future—for both relationships and individuals.
In the end, it seems Meredith is ready to embrace the idea that no one should be defined by their mistakes forever—and that includes Jen Shah.
